swapping levers on their Royal Enfield

My dad's been working on his Royal Enfield and hit a little snag, want to help him, ofc.

He swapped out the OEM levers for a set of aftermarket CNC ones, and now the clutch cable at the motor is acting strange.
When he tries to turn it, it feels like it's fighting him and wants to spring back to its original position. I tried taking the lever off completely, but the cable still won't turn smoothly.

I'm wondering if we're doing something wrong during the install. Has anyone else run into this after swapping levers on their Royal Enfield?

It sounds like the new levers may be affecting the cable's tension or alignment. Even with the lever off , the cable can bind if it's twisted, kinked or rubbing anywhere along its path. Check the routing and make sure its seated properly at both the lever and clutch arm, sometimes aftermarket levers just need a small adjustment to run smoothly.
