Intermittent Stall, 2022 RE

A strange one happened while riding my '22 Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 yesterday. Cruising along at about 45 mph, the throttle suddenly went dead without any sputtering, just an instant loss of power like someone hit the kill switch. Coasted to the shoulder, tried starting it up again, and got nothing but just cranking. After letting it sit for about 10 minutes, it fired back up but stalled two more times before I eventually made it home fine, but now I'm worried it'll leave me stranded for good next time.

Has anyone else had this kind of issue? cos I kinda checked the fuel filter already

That's a bummer! But honestly, you're not the first one I've read who had that issue with his 650 twins. His case was a faulty bank angle sensor. It got hot and cut the power instantly, just like you described. He ended up getting a new sensor though, but that isn't too expensive!

I'm thinking an overheating fuel pump. If it's failing and overheating it might shut itself off ro prevent damage or is too damaged to work in those conditions. I suppose probably that's why you could start the bike after a while.

Sounds like you might be hitting one of those intermittent gremlins RE 650s sometimes get. Bank angle sensors are a common culprit, but @Cactusfather makes a good point. An overheating fuel pump could also behave that way. Might be worth checking both before logging too many highway miles, so you’re not left stranded.
