Loud screech on Classic 500

Just picked up a lightly used 2023 Classic 500 and noticed a loud screech when starting it up. Only had it a few days, so I'm not sure what's going on. Still getting familiar with how it behaves, is it normal? Thanks!

A loud screech on startup could point to something like a starter motor issue or a loose belt, sot definitely not normal.
I suggest you take it back to where you bought it or to a Royal Enfield dealer to have it checked soon.

I've had the same with the "in tank" petrol pump. Particularly after I cleaned the filter. Maybe a small airlock. I got quite a fright the screech was so loud.....!
Edit - this was on switching the ignition on.i.e. before turning the motor over.

I'm sure you still have a warranty for this, right? my advice is to get a video of the sound.
This can be great evidence for the dealer or a mechanic. The issue might not happen every time, and having a video can prevent the "couldn't replicate the problem" scenario
